Fees
Self-funded assessment and therapy sessions are charged at $220 per session, payable at the end of each session. If your assessment and therapy sessions are funded by an insurance company or other third party organization, charges may be higher due to the need for greater administration requirements, supplementary reports, etc. I can discuss this with you at the time of your initial enquiry. A session lasts 1 hour - 50 minutes assigned for assessment and/or treatment with 10 minutes reserved for payment and scheduling. If you are unable to make a scheduled appointment for any reason, I ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice or you will be subject to a missed appointment fee (usually the full session rate). |

In British Columbia, assessment and treatment by a private psychologist is not covered under the Medical Services Plan (MSP). However,
many people are covered for psychological services by Extended Health Plans. If you have this type of coverage it is important to check out the following points:
- What is the maximum amount for which you can be reimbursed in a given year? This amount can differ depending on the insurance company and the type of extended health benefits package you have.
- Does your extended health benefits coverage provide 100% coverage or does it cover only a percentage of the bill. Many plans only offer 80% coverage so you will not be reimbursed the full receipt amount.
- When does your extended health benefits coverage year change? Most plans start a new year on January 1. This enables many people to book several sessions in the fall of one year, and continue into the New Year using their coverage for the next year.
- Does your extended health plans require that you have a physician referral? Whilst Dr Roberts does not require a physician referral your insurer might.
- Many extended health plans require that your provider be a registered psychologist? Dr. Roberts is registered by the College of Psychologists of British Columbia.
- Psychological services can also be claimed as a health care expense on your income tax.
